Legal Studies at NAU
So you want to be a paralegal? It’s one of the nation’s fastest growing professional careers. In fact, the national demand for paralegals is projected to continue to increase for the foreseeable future. Today, many law firms are reducing the number of attorneys they employ and replacing them with paralegals that are able to perform many of the same tasks. A degree in paralegal studies allows the graduate to earn a professional hourly wage even while working on a part-time basis, making it possible for the graduate to continue his or her education without incurring crippling student loan debts.
NAU can make you a paralegal! We have the professors with the outstanding educations and interactive teaching methodologies required to get you when you want to be in your career. With low student/teacher ratios and a superior legal faculty that includes a B.A. from the University of Minnesota-Morris and J.D. from Stanford, a top regulatory lawyer with over 30 years experience with a B.S. in civil engineering, an M.S. in environmental engineering, a J.D. and an M.B.A., and a third faculty member with a B.S. and J.D. degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, you’ll be excited to attend these classes! While the majority of paralegals are employed in law offices, paralegals are increasingly employed by non-traditional legal employers, such as insurance companies, title companies, hospitals, governmental entities and financial institutions. So if the law is your interest, NAU is the place to educate your brain!
