National American University Welcome's Dennis Townsend, the Interim Campus Director

National American University would like to welcome Dennis Townsend, the Interim Campus Director here at the Rapid City campus.  Dennis comes from an extensive higher education background; he has served over 30 years in the public and private education system.  Dennis came to National American University because of the people he knew and that the university’s educational philosophy corresponded with his own personal philosophy, in regards to students meeting their educational goals.

Dennis grew up in Eastern South Dakota and he received his Bachelors in Business from Dakota State University.  He also has a master’s degree in education administration from South Dakota State University and he has taken various classes from the University of South Dakota.  Dennis’ career has since taken him to Missouri, but when asked what it is like to be back in his native state he said, “I’ve always had a soft spot in my heart for South Dakota; it’s good to be back.”

Dennis looks forward to his time here at NAU and welcomes the opportunity to meet students.  He stated:  “My job and business are not work to me because I enjoy seeing students meet their ultimate goals and I look forward to the future accomplishments of the student body.”  Dennis believes the university supplies a strong faculty and staff that are available to help students succeed in all fields of study.  He firmly believes that National American University offers a wide range of diverse programs such as healthcare, business, accounting, applied management, athletic training, business administration, information technology, legal studies and veterinary technology; all of which demand and hold good careers for students.
